Been hankering for a face-painting and funnel-cake fix? The 39th Annual Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair is set for October 1-2, and it’s shaping up to be a great weekend for food and family fun. Great fair food, beautiful arts & crafts, live entertainment, games for kids of all ages, and of course the longstanding favorite Beer Garden are all on tap for the weekend. The fair also provides a great fund-raising opportunity for many local nonprofit organizations, especially those benefiting local youth groups, so come on out and support your favorite group or team at their booth.
You can also get your little ones in on the fun by entering them in the always-entertaining Diaper Derby (for little ones who are still crawling) or the Toddler Trot (walkers/runners under 24 months). See the Games page for more information and applications.
The fair, which runs from 10am to 6pm on both days, is centered around the Valley/Ardmore greenbelt between approximately 15th and 18th Streets in the general area of Live Oak, Dorsey Field and the Joslyn Center in Manhattan Beach. Parking is available with free shuttle service from the Northrup Grummon R1 parking area at 1 Space Park Drive in Redondo Beach. Locals will likely want to walk if possible; Valley Drive will be shut down and nearby parking can be tight.
The fair, which is run by an all-volunteer board, is still looking for helpers for the weekend, so if you’re free, please consider signing up to help. Contact volunteers [at] mbfair.org for more information.
