Santa Claus has a knack for covering a lot of territory, and this year is no exception. He’ll be making appearances all across the South Bay during the holiday season, so if you miss him in one place, you’re likely to spot him again soon.
El Segundo: Santa will be riding through the neighborhoods of El Segundo from Dec. 12 through Dec. 16, courtesy of the El Segundo Police Officers Association and the El Segundo Kiwanis Club. He will appear from 5:15 p.m. to 9 p.m. each night (see the El Segundo website for the complete schedule).
Manhattan Beach: Thanks to the Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce, Santa will be riding through the neighborhoods of Manhattan Beach from Nov. 28 through Dec. 15, beginning at 5:30 p.m. each night. Download the map at the Chamber of Commerce web site to view the complete schedule.
Santa will also be posing for photos at the Manhattan Village Mall through Dec. 24. He will appear on Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (with lunch and dinner breaks).
Hermosa Beach: Santa is coming to Gum Tree (238 Pier Ave.) in Hermosa Beach on Dec. 2 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Dec. 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be free hot chocolate for the kids and photos will be available for a fee, with all proceeds going to the Hermosa Beach Education Foundation.
Redondo Beach: Instead of riding through the neighborhoods, Santa will make appearances at two parks this year. According to the Redondo Beach Patch, Santa will visit Alta Vista Park’s baseball diamond from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Dec. 10 and Anderson Park’s baseball diamond from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Dec. 17. The Redondo Beach Police Officers Association asks that families bring unwrapped toy or clothing item to give to a less fortunate child.
Rancho Palos Verdes: Santa will be riding through the neighborhoods of Rancho Palos Verdes on select nights from Dec. 4 through Dec. 23, beginning at 5:30 p.m. each night. See the city website for the full schedule.
Lomita, San Pedro, Palos Verdes Estates: Coordinated by the Lomita sheriff’s station, Santa will ride through these three cities, beginning with a tree lighting in Lomita on Dec. 2. The visits will continue through Dec. 18. See the schedule in the Daily Breeze for more information.
