Anaheim/OC Adventure

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending the OC Blogger Bash, a swanky shindig at the Anaheim Convention Center, through MomsLA. As someone who spends most of her time in the South Bay, heading down to Orange County for a Sunday night party was something of a novelty for me. But I was drawn to the energy and excitement of the organizers, and to the  promise of a night of sparkly fun with a retro- Mad Men theme.

That night the party theme was carried out to perfection, from a mock drive-in, to a band playing 60s hits, to the food that was reminiscent of glamorous days gone by (mini beef wellington, shrimp cocktail, and baked Alaska). The Anaheim/Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau (AOCVCB), along with the other sponsors of the event, were incredibly generous with their prizes and giveaways (including passes to Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, and in my case, a gift certificate to the Outlets at Orange). As I listened to the prizes being given away, including trips to swanky restaurants and hotels, it occurred to me that Anaheim/OC has all the makings for an amazing a ladies’ weekend.

And hey – whaddya know? The AOCVCB has ideas for a “girlfriends’ getaway” weekend all mapped out for you! Round up your best friends, because it’s time to go on a road trip. You can start with some refreshing retail therapy at the glamorous South Coast Plaza or Fashion Island, or do some high-end bargain hunting at the Outlets at Orange. Next you can head over to one of the the OC’s world-class spas, including the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa, where you can get a Crystalline Clay Facial; the sanctuary-like Montanya Spa; or have a haircut and color done at Lux Aveda Salon and Spa. For dinner, you can have a splendid Italian meal at the landmark Anaheim White House, enjoy the seafoods of Mexico at Las Brisas in Laguna Beach, or classic California cuisine at the Beachcomber in Crystal Cove.

When it’s time to call it a day, you can luxuriate overnight just steps from the sand at Pacific Edge Hotel in Laguna Beach, try out some old Hollywood glamour at the Hotel La Casa del Camino in Laguna Beach, or go for a secluded stay in the middle of it all at the newly remodeled Hotel Menage in Anaheim.

So what are you waiting for? Time for a road trip! Thanks for the inspiration, AOCVCB!

Blogger disclosure, a.k.a. the fine print: I was not compensated for this post, but I did win passes and gift cards at the party. The opinions expressed are my own.
